We went to Wolf Mardi Gras this weekend. The main reason I went was to see Cross Canadian Ragweed. It is one of those concert deals where it is like a "festival" and there are several bands. By the time Ragweed finally came on stage everyone was too tired, had sore feet, or hungry to stay. Scott, Lisa, and I were the only ones still standing out of about 14 people in our group. Scott and I must have been trying to prove a point....we're in our 30's and have a baby, but we will still stay until the last band at a concert!

Yes, I've got a mouthfull of sunflower seeds. Sexy.

I'm doing my rendition of Beyonce's "Check Up On It" here. Who put that in my back pocket?

Thank you Lili for this Valentine. I have found a friend in The Office. I'll keep watching the British Office on the side, if you let me Lili.

I'm A Sucker for Adventure

I just TiVo'd it because of the Yosemite factor. While feeding Scout and looking for an upcoming program to watch on TV, I noticed The Travel Channel had a show about Jack Osborne Climbing El Capitan. "Hmmm, interesting, I'll TiVo it," I thought. So, I watched it in the middle of the night when I was up again, and you know what? It was actually really entertaining. Apparently, it is a series of shows documenting Jack Osborne's journey to climb El Capitan, which is an astounding rock face in Yosemite in California.

Anyway, he is trained by 2 British rock climbing professionals (guy and girl that are both very fit and attractive). In the show I watched, they take him to Thailand to get in shape while kick boxing. Here's a site that talks about it. Scroll down for photos: Jack Osborne's Training

I've thrown in some before and after pics I like. I recommend watching if you can. I thought it was funny because Jack doesn't really want to exercise or eat right, and he is sarcastic about it all. I liked it. It has some camera time with his famous fam, but it is mostly just him and his trainers.
There are tons of free computer wallpapers on this site: NEATO WEBSITE! I love the trailor one best of course!

Low-scoring, boring superbowl games lead to shenanigans most of the time. http://www.youtube.com/w/?v=9gkAlCgs9gc

A Million Little Pieces

I haven't read the book by James Frey that has everyone in an uproar, but I did watch the Oprah show last week where she confronted him on his lies and kind of told the publisher she was stupid for endorsing the book as a memoir. Instead, she said they should have done research on his stories and realized that the author had made up several parts of the story.

More interesting was that Oprah and the publisher discussed the concept of a memoir. It was interesting in that I came away with the understanding that pretty much anyone can write their "memoir," which is how they remember events, and possibly have them published as non fiction. I'm thinking that memoirs must have a lot of "embellishments" because all of our memories tend to bend and fold over the years. We all know that teaching tactic of staging a crime, then having different people describe what happened. Inevitably, the "witnesses" will recount the facts of the crime differently. The lesson learned? That people interpret situations, dialog, and visuals differently. Add time to that and you have an even more variable recount. Anyway, I found the topic interesting.

Then, I thought about how my memoir would read. Hmmmmm...Would it be a good read? Haven't we all thought about writing our "memoirs?" I wonder if everyone thinks their life story would make a good book. What makes the memoir worthy? Is it the story's content or the fashion in which it is written? It seems "common people" memoirs have become more common these days. While in Barns & Noble I notice the memoirs of people I've never heard of and I wonder why it is interesting to read accounts of random people's lives. I understand the famous people's lives being interesting, but some farmer's daughter from Indiana? But, in the age of reality TV, it only makes sense that the new literary star should be the memoir.

I've been at home with the new baby. I haven't left the house. I haven't done anything "fun." My experiences for the last 2 1/2 weeks have all been "maternal." Basically, what I'm saying is that I've had nothing to blog here on the old website. I'm throwing up this picture of Roxy because, well, it is pretty fun when she walks around with the rawhide that looks like a stogie. So, bear with me during this time of no posts. I'll try to come up with something interesting or amusing soon.
