Justin
Timberlake came to Big D with a heck of a concert (the pics of him are from my phone). Pink opened for him, and she was awesome. I'd like to give you a "Rolling Stone" review of the concert, but I really don't know much about concerts. Plus, I have a better story to tell.
Let me "set the stage" if you will. I'll take you back to Monday, March 5th:
Kamie is in town from Alaska all set to hit American Airlines Center with Scott and I to see Justin Timberlake and his opening act, Pink. That afternoon at about 3pm Scott had one of his big toe nails completely removed by his food doctor. Yeah, I know that's personal information, but it is necessary for this tale. When, I say completely removed," I mean they cut the nerves, cut all surrounding tissue, and the nail will not return at all. So, when he arrived at our house to meet us for our departure, Scott had a bandaged toe with instructions to limit time on his foot.
He seemed just fine at dinner where Kamie and I talked about how excited we were to see JT, and Scott made clear that he was psyched to see Pink more than JT. As we arrived at the AA Center, Scott and Kamie were so anxious to get inside, that they were chirping, "just park somewhere, hurry!"
So, I put 'er in park, fumble for my ID and grab the tickets then hustle around the truck and rush to catch up to Scott and Kamie. As I get close, I see the moonlight shimmering off of Scott's flip-flop (the doctor told him to wear a sandal since he'd be on his feet that night). I squint to figure out why his shoe is shiny, when I see it. There is blood all over his flip-flop squishing between his toes, his toe is totally exposed, and I now realize that his foot is slip-sliding along the slippery blood covered sandal.
I yell out, "SCOTT! YOUR FOOT!"
Scott stops and glances down as if I'm bothering him. Kamie pauses and stares, then points behind us about 5 feet and says, "there's the bandage!"
Being a good wife and a frustrated trauma physician, I trot back to pick up the toe-shaped dressing. It is pretty bloody, so I make a case for redressing the toe right then and there.
You would have thought I had told Kamie and Scott that I hated them and wished death upon their dogs. They both gave me a look of disbelief and said something to the effect of: We don't have time for this. We've got to get into the concert. Kamie senses Scott's frustration and says, "Ro just put it on!"
So, I slide the used, blood soaked bandage back on his right big toe. Realizing the go-between on the flip is probably responsible for the loss of the bandage, Scott just holds the sandal in his hand and walks bare foot through the parking lot. Once inside, I spotted a first aid location and tried unsuccessfully to coerce him into a re-bandaging. He and Kamie both heard Pink belting out her opening tune, and they were totally uninterested in first aid. I told the paramedic, "nevermind" and we went on to our seats.
I would end it here, but I must tell you this last nutty part. In between performances, Scott agreed to go to first aid. He handed me his blood covered flip-flop and asked me to wash it off. I headed to the bathroom with Kamie thinking I'll just wash it in the sink. Wrong answer. Because when I get in there, it was PACKED with ladies/girls all around the sinks. I can't just hoist up that bloody size 12 flip and begin the scrub. I felt like a criminal as I headed into a stall then yep, I put the flip in the toilet and flushed away. Man, it looked like someone had a tampon tragedy in there. It is dripping bloody water all over the seat and floor as I make my way out. Of course, a custodian is standing outside the stall door staring at me as I open it. She went in, obviously to clean up. Kamie meets me at that point and is laughing nervously. I grab some paper towels and give this thong some pat-pats as I head back to the first aid room where I left Scott. What a night.
By the way, the concert was good.
