Salado, TX

Could this be Dee Ann's new property? She really liked it. We'll have to wait and see what she decides. I just know that you shouldn't go traipsing around wild Texas property in shorts and a tank top unless you want to end up with poison ivy or chiggers. Yes, I got the latter. Dammit!

Beauty is Pain

Yesterday I got the old brows waxed. I must give props to Shay because without her expertise and time, these brows would still be bush-like. Thank you Shay for ripping the "catepillar" off of my upper eyelid. You are a woman to be admired. Shay didn't stop there though. She did some microderm abrasion...what she likes to call "fluff and puff," and she did some other unsightly facial maintenance that I must say Christy enjoyed watching.

I actually saved the wax strips full of fun. I was going to try to scan them and post them because of all the hair. But, wouldn't you know it...I got up at 4am and heated up leftovers and was having a good old time here at the laptop, when I realized I had set the hot plate on my wax strips...yep...the hairs said, "I'm melting!" So, sorry Christy, the strips had to go away. No visual this time.

Memorial Day Tribute

In honor of Memorial Day, I will list my personal favorite American-Involved war movies.

Civil War
  • Glory (Great movie I remember seeing in the theater when it came out.)
  • Cold Mountain (I have to include Jude Law. He's the hottest soldier ever. Seriously, this movie is awesome. Sappy sometimes, but good.)
WWI
  • Sergeant York (This is dedicated to G-Money who always loves this movie. She is responsible for me watching it. Obviously a great classic, since it is the only one that made my list.)
  • Legends of The Fall (Yes, Henry Thomas shakes off the ET kid stereotype and goes to war in Europe dispite his fathers wishes. Brad Pitt is in the movie too...need I say more?)
WWII
  • Saving Private Ryan (Probably my favorite war movie of all time. I love everything about this movie except that so many guys had to die, but I guess it wouldn't be a war movie, if they didn't. Great actors, great action, great sound, awesome story...just darn good.)

WWIII

  • Red Dawn (How can a cast of Patrick Swayze, C. Thomas Howell, Charlie Sheen, and Jennifer Grey be anything less than greatness? I love the action and the idea of a handful of "Wolverines!" fighting the Cubans and Russians.)
Vietnam
  • The Deer Hunter (I remember seeing this movie 20 years ago. I've rented it since then, and it is pretty depressing, but hey, so was Vietnam.)
  • First Blood (I love this movie because of Sly Stallone, the underdog, and the scenery in the shots. I realize that it isn't "war" combat, but it is a story of the Vietnam soldier once he returns to the US.)
Desert Storm
  • Three Kings (I love the actors and the camera work. Interesting movie plot with the soldiers torn between the gold bullion and helping people. Oh, and Mark Wahlberg is short but hot.)
  • Black Hawk Down (Lots of action and cool camera work and I guess the modern equipment and enemy make it cool too.)

Graduation is Great

We all went to see the seniors graduate this weekend. It is fun to see them finally "getting out." I love to see the kids I like graduate, and I love to see the kids I don't like get the hell out. So, either way it is good.

Tradition is that we go to the yearly after graduation party. We did. Then, we traveled on to Greenville Ave for more fun. We had some good times. I am proud to say that even as a mother-to-be, I can still hang (and watch). I've included some pictures of the day/evening.

Yea! School is almost over....get crazy!

What happens if you don't get out much: If you look closely you can see the string of the tampon hanging out of the "shhmirnoff." He had no idea it had been dropped in there by one of our female pranksters. He proceeded to drink this for some time while we laughed and laughed. FYI: The tampon was new, so don't freak out.

So, the pregnant lady goes out for the after graduation party and drinks sprite all night and is the designated driver....and SHE FALLS DOWN!!! Yeah, chair broke right underneath me....I'm glad everyone got a good laugh. This is me getting help up.

and....SHE'S UP!

You know the night is over when someone thinks it is a good idea to eat ketchup out of the squeeze bottle.
