Leave Your Vote - What's Worse?

If you'd like to leave a comment regarding what you think is the WORST FEELING, please do! Here are what I think are the top 5- pit in the stomach feelings:

  • You visit the potty and take care of some serious business. Alas, you look towards the area where the toilet paper SHOULD be, but no ma'am: all out of toity pape.

  • You are out with many people from work at happy hour. You party it up a tidge too late and maybe too many drinks. You wake up in the morning with a horrible feeling your comments went too far.

  • You've made a "boo-boo" at work. Now, the boss personally contacts you to let you know he wants to "speak with you in his office."

  • Your alarm doesn't go off, and you are EXTREMELY late to an important meeting or work.
  • You hit reply on the email and go off on someone in the office or the circle of friends. WHOOPS....YOU HIT REPLY TO ALL! Man, that one stings.

Now, there are many other worst feelings. But, I didn't want to get into death, divorce, suicide or even adultery. I like to keep the levity here on Peeing In the Shower.

Dreams Don't Always Last

The RV is off. It is a no go. I'm bummed that my dream of owning an RV will have to wait. However, I'm ok with it. All good things to those that wait is what I've heard. Plus, I mean I don't want to attain greatness in my 30's because what would I have to look forward to in my next 20 years?

Ever Been To San Angelo, Texas?

How about Christoval, Texas? Kamie and I conquered both this past weekend. We drove to visit Dee Ann and her great kids down in the center of Texas, just south of San Angelo. Kamie hadn't seen Dee in over 10 years. I couldn't believe it had been that long. We had a great time catching up, hanging out, and watching Nacho Libre. The pic below is in downtown San Angelo.

On Sunday, Dee Ann decided that it would be cool for us to drive out to a monastery called the Carmelite Hermitage in Christoval. I think she was inspired by Nacho Libre. It was pretty interesting. We tried to go in, but as you can see below in the pic, they kicked Dee out (Just Kidding! I just like the picture). It was actually just too late for us to get inside. But, that didn't stop us from taking pics on the grounds, reading the stories, and driving around checking the grounds out. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see any real monks :(

To sum it up, adventures are good, especially with great friends. I will be going back to Christoval again.

If You Dream It, You Can Achieve It

It might happen. I might buy a camper trailer from my cousin Jerry. I'm pretty pumped right now because it looks like I'll be picking up the 2002 Fleetwood Prowler over spring break next weekend. I'll keep you posted. This is just a picture from the internet of what it could look like. There are so many scenerios going through my head about where we can go, camp, and explore. Summer of 2007 just keeps getting better. It started with a dream, then came the towing-capable Tahoe, and now the camper.

I'm Getting Ditched

Back in the early 90's when our marriage was 5 years from fruition and we were just "dating", I used to try to break up with Scott. I know that seems heartless and mean, but I figured that relationships don't last, so before I got too involved, I'd just break it off. It didn't work. We are still together. I've never successfully broken up with anyone. I've been married to Scott since '97. Nothing like stability. Scott's taught me to put trust in relationships.

At least I have my marriage...because my friends leave me...

Today I got the news that Christy is bailing. Bailing on us. Bailing on work. Bailing on Dallas.

We met at work 6 years ago. I had no friends. She had no friends. Our boss had it out for us. We both were stuck coaching and miserable. We sat in that teeny-tiny coach's office and bonded over stories of our childhood, food, college, and family. We spent the summer of 2001 deliberately constructing our "faction:" us and a couple of other "young" teachers sticking together to protect each other and provide credibility. There is safety in numbers.

The friendship worked. The faction worked. Now, we both have credibility, seniority, good schedules, and hour and a half lunches. We pretty much call the shots for ourselves at work. Let's face it: We are one degree of separation from running our departments.

THE DREAM IS OVER IN MAY

She's leaving me. I've been broken up with. She's moving for "the good life" in the country. I guess when your husband wants to take a new job in a small town, you follow him. I know she says she'll visit. But, that doesn't soften the blow. I'm being ditched. And, it hurts. My poems are all I have to get me through:

I'm bitter.
I'll get over it,
After some beers,
After some late nights fireside,
But, right now, she's dead to me.

Bunion Updates...They just keep coming...

I had my left bunion-ectomy scheduled for Spring Break. However, after getting the bills from the right foot surgery, I've cancelled the left. The bills are pretty high, and we have to re-meet out deductible and the out-of-pocket costs to get to 100% coverage. Basically, insurance is a pain in the butt, but we already knew that. Looks like the left foot will be funky for another year I think. But, who really cares?

7 Weeks Post-Op

I'm walking just fine now (in a protective boot that is). Yes, it is darker, and I still have some healing spots from the incision. But, overall, it seems pretty good.

Deep Thought

Do you ever use your arm in the shower to direct streams of water at will? Like, if there is a spot of something in the corner, do you ever point at it and make the water run down your arm and hand seemingly shooting water from your fingertips like an aqua man protege?

5 Weeks Since Surgery

As promised, I continue to document the double ostectomy. Today, I got out of the cast and into the walking boot/air cast. I am cleared for walking in it, but it was pretty painful, so I still used a crutch part time. I'll be in the walking boot for 2 weeks. I took this picture tonight for a visual reference (right after I shaved 5 weeks worth of hair growth off of my leg). Why the bandage? The incision is still healing. Hopefully, that will come off next week.
